FC Bayern Muenchen had the best start into a season in its long history. With six games and six victories behind them, the record champion is also well up on its goal difference, with 17 goals in its plus column.

Prior to this week's Champions League Matchday 2 in group play, Bayern had won nine counters in a row and a 10th win would have been a new club record. BATE Borisov was the spoiler, one of the most unexpected clubs to stop the run.

Borussia Dortmund put on a stellar performance against Manchester City, a game that ended in a 1-1 draw. With yesterday's great performance and their 5-0 runaway win over Borussia Moenchen Gladbach, it appears that Dortmund has arrived. The combination of Goetze, Reus and Lewandowski seems to finally be clicking,

Schalke 04 played to a 2-2 draw against Montpellier and is also still very much a contender in the Bundesliga.

FC Bayern will host Hoffenheim this weekend and on paper, at least, should be able to pick up another three points. A loss or draw is not acceptable for Bayern, which has to demonstrate that it can come back after loss. Hoffenheim with two wins, a draw and three losses will need a win to remain in the top half of the league. The motivation for Bayern and home pitch advantage is there. Expect Bayern to edge out a win in the Allianz arena.

Dortmund travel to Hanover on Sunday. Only one point separates the two Bundesliga power houses. After Dortmund`s performance last weekend and in Manchester City it is hard to see anything but a victory. Roman Weidenfeller is on the top of his game and the combination of Goetze, Reus and Lewandowski is starting to click. Defensively Dortmund has shown some weakness, both in Manchester and in previous league games. This is not an impossible task for Hanover and with home game advantage a draw is possible.

Schalke 04 will host Wolfsburg, which has only picked up five points in six games and is third from the bottom, while Schalke occupies fourth spot. Schalke should win in Gelsenskirchen.

FC Augsburg, which has yet to win its first game this season, will be hosting Werder Bremen, which has won two of their six games. Bremen needs a win to maintain contact with fellow Europe aspirants. Augsburg, needs a victory before it falls too far behind. The motivation is there for both clubs to do well. Expect Augsburg to make life difficult for Bremen. Will this be the game that they record as their first win, perhaps.

SC Freiburg hosts 1.FC Nuernberg. Both teams have had a slow start, with Nuernberg doing slightly better. A draw is in the books or perhaps a Freiburg win.

Duesseldorf is a league newcomer that has accumulated 10 points in six matches and occupies sixth spot. Duesseldorf travels to Mainz, which has accumulated seven point. The advantage has to go to Mainz.

Eintracht Frankfurt, which has a successful start to this season, is just two points behind FC Bayern. Frankfurt travels to Gladbach this weekend, which has only won one game so far. Frankfurt has shown in the first six matches that it has the ability to score, defend and even come back, after being down 2-0 against Dortmund. Frankfurt should be able to defeat Gladbach.

On Sunday Stuttgart hosts Leverkusen. Stuttgart has had one of its worst starts this season, with only one win in six starts, while Leverkusen has won three. While both teams are under pressure to succeed, the edge has to go to Leverkusen.

As the league standings take shape, there are some real questions about the consistency of the record champion Bayern. Dortmund has come into its own and appears to be on a winning slide. If the Borussen can maintain the performance of the last two games, they are still in the game, despite the seven point lag behind FC Bayern.

Frankfurt will have to continue with a consistant performance and has a good lead in points over the followers Schalke and Dortmund.

The Bundesliga will provide the excitement and entertainment fans have become accustomed to. All eyes will be on Bayern, Frankfurt and Dortmund. Enjoy the games.
