Hartford Connecticut.University of Connecticut athletic director Ward Manual said the university is looking for a sponsor to come forward and secure the naming rights that will built next to the Gampel Pavilion on the site where the former college football stadium was torn down earlier in 2012.
The new practice facility will cost more than $40 million dollars is being funded by private donations. Manuel has gone on record saying the new practice facility will be not named in honor of retired men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun who retired from coaching in September.
The university officials said they need $32 million dollars to break ground at the site of the new facility. They currently have $22 million dollars. Calhoun who is a special assistant to Manuel will be traveling to National Basketball Assocation (NBA) training camps to ask his former players to help with donations to build the new practice facilty.
The practice facility will also have the history of University of Connecticut basketball teams which has a very impressive records of both genders in terms of championships won.
