Vivienne Westwood and husband Andreas Kronthaler, dressed as “Climate” and “Revolution” respectively, presented the Vivienne Westwood Spring/Summer 2013 collection in a fashion show during Paris Fashion Week on September 29, 2012 in Paris, France.
Also presented at London Fashion Week, Vivienne Westwood’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection is hardly recognizable in Paris. This is clearly a whole new offering!
Though the color palette is similar to what was previously shown – rust, apricot and olive in a woodsy, floral theme – this Part 2 of the Vivienne Westwood’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection focuses on evening gowns and slightly dressier cocktail dresses as well as some distinctly Japanese inspired kimono style garments.
What was a little startling was the chalky white eye-socket makeup on the models today, perhaps reminiscent of Amazon Indians, who face forest depletion… Very effective Ms Westwood! And yes, the lovely butterflies still flutter on her garments…
Memorable in this Spring/Summer 2013 offering from Vivienne Westwood are the apricot strapless gown (complete with a matching turban!), her charcoal grey gowns – heavy on the layers and frills, and her peacock colors teal and lime skirt, accessorized with a blue sapphire jeweled turban.
And then there was the Little Red Riding Hood ensemble with a moss green knit dress and matching red platform shoes.
But even more curious was the Gaia hat with Earth conscious graffiti – heart-felt sentiments really…
This is clearly a romantic vision of somewhat unrelated pieces, inspired by things that matter most to Westwood. We are intrigued…
