There's still more than a week to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election, and Solano County is making it easy for residents to qualify.
Residents can now register online to cast their ballots for dozens of offices and ballot measures.
“The addition of online voter registration to our web page provides another vital tool voters can use to make informed decisions during an election,” said John Gardner, the county's deputy registrar of voters.
But the deadline still is Oct. 22, however residents choose to register.
They must register by midnight on the 22nd if they want to vote on this year's long ballot, which includes a host of local and state races and ballot measures in addition to the 2012 presidential election.
With the new online system, potential voters need only click the red "Register To Vote" tab on the county website at www.solanocounty.com/elections.
They'll have to enter the numbers on their California identifications, their dates of birth and enter the last four digits of their social security numbers
Residents without a California ID card or driver's license must answer the online interview by Oct. 22 and mail in their documentation.
Officials say the new online system is expected to make registration faster for voters and cheaper for state and county governments.
Voters also can check the status of their registrations, change their party affiliations and find out where their polling places are if they choose to vote in person.
Oct. 30 is the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot.
