After only one dance, one of the couples on the All Star season of “Dancing with the Stars” would be eliminated from the competition.
After a new show opening celebrity faces from last night’s show expressed their thoughts on the star’s performances. Since all of the celebrities have appeared on previous seasons of DWTS, the celebrities were asked why they made a return visit to the show.
Head judge Len Goodman said the show had the best opening night ever and it was fantastic. Len said that the judges wanted to see the top scoring routine from the performance night – the Cha Cha from Super Bowl Star and season three DWTS champion Emmitt Smith and two time DWTS champion Cheryl Burke.
The “Dancing with the Stars” pros and the DWTS troupe performed a group number to a montage of dance songs.
An hour into the two hour special presentation it was finally time to hear the first results of the voting. The first couple safe for this All Star season was Shawn Johnson and Kerek Hough. They were joined by Apolo Anton Ono and Karina and Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson; but Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas were in jeopardy and would have to wait until the end of the show to learn of their fate.
Taking a break from the results, Latin star Pitbull made the live television debut of his new single “Don’t Stop the Party” in a performance filled with smoke and glow sticks.
Back to the results…the next couple safe was Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower. Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkoviskiy were also safe but Drew Lachey and Anna Trebunskaya were in jeopardy and would later learn their fate.
The “Dancing with the Stars” troupe made their solo debut for season 15.
The next three couples – Giles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd, Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke, and Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel were all on stage waiting to hear their results. Host Tom Bergeron called Giles and Peta and Emmitt and Cheryl’s names announced you are all safe. The three couples hugged and celebrated their safety. Bergeron had to clarify his remarks that it was only the names he called that were safe; but later stated that Sabrina and Louis were also safe.
Canadian teen rock star Justin Bieber performed his hit “As Long as You Love Me”.
The remaining three couples learned their fate with Kristie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy the next couple to be safe. Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani were also safe but Pamela Anderson and Tristan MacManus were in jeopardy and joined Bristol, Mark, Drew, and Anna in the bottom three.
Tom Bergeron announced that Bristol and Mark were safe meaning that either Drew and Anna or Pamela and Tristan would be eliminated from the comppetiton.
After scoring only 17 points and being told by the judges that she needed to work harder Pamela and Tristan were the first couple to be eliminated in the All Star season.
