Green Bay are packing their way out of Seattle fast with broken hearts and bruised ego inflicted by 14-12 controvery loss against Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football. As the time running out trailing by 6-12, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw a desperation pass toward in free for all at the end zone.
In Golden Tate touchdown catch video above, it was Green Bay safety M.D. Jennings clearly catch the ball in the air and fell on top of Tate in the ground but still grabbing the ball to his chest. One NFL replacement referee calls it touchback interception while the other calls touchdown for Seahawks. The call was challenge by Coach McCarthy but the refs upheld the touchdown call after the video replay.
Twitter explodes after controversial finish to Packers vs Seahawks as millions who tune-in ESPN national TV coverage of on Monday night. The NFL replacement referee's decision was lambasted in Twitter because they didn't believe Packers lost the game.
Some of Packers vs Seahawks Twitter reaction:
NFL should overturn the decision according to ESPN Analyst
@stephenasmith If the NFL wants to maintain any credibility whatsoever, it should OVERTURN this decision IMMEDIATELY. This game should be @RealSkipBayless Jennings obviously intercepted that pass. And for the second straight night fake refs steal a game from a visiting team.
Lebron James love NFL,
@KingJames These replacement refs gotta go man!! Packers just got game took from them. I LOVE NFL football to much to see this type of work. @OtisWilson_55 Final word: Clearly a bad call but Packers players proved tonight why they are the classiest team in the league HAH. Goodnight & Beardown @sportsguy33 Mike McCarthy should have ran back out on the field naked from the waist down. @SportsCenter "Seahawks win in the most bizarre finish you'll ever see!" - Mike Tirico
The Packers were handed a loss by the referees. This goes back from8-sack after the half but the Packers rallied halftime adjustments on Rodgers shutgun pass and Benson pounding the ball. has 17 rush for 45 yards mostly in the second half. Aaron Rodgers is 26 of 39 with 223 yards, 8 sacks, no touchdown.
Coming back from this loss will be tough, but the Packers have to be partly blame themselves especially their offensive line for allowing that outstanding 8 sacks. Or just Seattle's defense are just too good that must be given credit.
This maybe the worst call by replacement refs so far but how about the Seattle Seahawks who kept themselves in a game which they shouldn't have against the 15-1 team last season. What makes the game controversial is the Packers let the Seahawks get too close enough.
Lesson learned for the Packers: Next time don't let the score get close enough that it will matter in deciding the game. Blow them away with early lead.
For now the real winner will be the Sports scribes, TV analyst, bloggers who will talk about the "controversial win" by Seattle for days and weeks. Sure, the standings will show Packers are 1-2, but we all know they are 2-1.
