Global security and peace begin with you

Security is all about safety of lives and properties. What strikes your mind when you hear, see, or read about security is freedom, peace, progress, harmony, lack of stress, lack of threat and a crime -free society, among others.

Insecurity, as the opposite of security comes with violence, war, bloodbaths, satanic activities, regressive tendencies, robberies, terrorism, killing, kidnapping, maiming and threats. I am pretty sure you can list others.

Take it, leave it or blast me. Security at the global level actually begins from the family, as the smallest social unit of life. As parents and guardian, if you are disconnected with your source, there is bound to be problems.

What do I mean? Well, God is our creator and man and woman, the created. There is therefore a definite, personal and direct relationship that exists between God, the creator and man, the created.

I may be wrong and therefore stand to be corrected. There is no religion or fraternal organization anywhere in the world that says we must kill others in order to inherit the world.

No human being born of a woman can live in this world forever. What we sow today, we reap tomorrow, either in this life or the next when we come back.

What is the link between my preaching and security, you dare ask? Simple. If we parents and guardians strive daily to bring up our children and wards in the ways of the Lord or Allah, there is will be peace in the world.

Regardless of our religion, we must teach our children and wards what I will call universally accepted ideals that have stood the test of time for centuries. Some of these ideals are transparency, truth, patient, contentment, sincerity, accountability, Godliness, respect for others, peaceful co-existence, etc. Again I say the list is endless and you can actually add to it.

Even with the media reports that the federal government of Nigeria is trying to dialogue with the faceless members of the Boko Haram sect, it was a bloody Sunday as a suspected suicide bomber attempted to hit St John Catholic Church in Bauchi state.

Last Sunday, Lagos, the former capital of Nigeria was shut down for hours by dare-devil armed robbers. Unconfirmed reports have it that the robbers operated in army uniforms, killing police officers, intercepting their walkie- talkie and killing innocent persons are well.

Though anti-robbery police officers from the Lagos state SARS have tracked down three of the fleeing robbers, the incident is still generating ripples in security circles.

Muhammed Abubakar, Nigerian police chief, obviously caught unaware when he ran into the robbers around Ikeja, in Lagos that fateful Sunday, in anger lambasted the Manko Umar-led police force in Lagos for sleeping while robbers terrorize Lagosians.

Let us go back to the family level. If we are connected with our source. Call it God, Allah or whatever; we will not be desperate, deadly, scheming and cunning in trying to acquire material wealth that is basically transient in nature.

How many of the wealthy, powerful, famous and well connected person you and I know that have gone to the spiritual world after transition with their wealth .This is a question that we parent must reflect upon all the time.

It is barbaric to kill your brother or sister from the same fatherhood of God and motherhood of nature, simply because either you want money or want to impose your religion on others.

He who kills today for whatever reasons will certainly face the consequences of his or her action either in this life or the next. That is, when the person comes back to this earth to continue from where he or she stopped.

If we are connected with God, do onto others what we wish to be done to us, there will be no more bomb blasts in northern Nigeria, robberies, kidnapping, violence, bloodbath and other criminal activities. People should think along this line as we sympathize with those who were either killed or injured on the bloody Sunday bomb blast in Bauchi.
