December 10, 2011--The celebration of the 63rd year of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Human Rights Day was marked with a protest from various sectors of Philippine society. Karapatan National Alliance for Human Rights report on the human rights record of the present PNoy administration: 64 extrajudicial killings, 51 torture, 9 enforced disappearances, etc. The protest was held in Mendiola, the bridge/road at the foot of the Malacanang Palace, the seat of power, where for four previous days, the police has prevented youth activists from staging a campout in support of Occupy protests around the world.
