Les Parapluies de Cherbourg

He waits for her that face so long ago

When days were soft and song birds filled the air

Their special spot he knew she would be there

To share a smile and every sweet hello

-

They shared the sun kiss morning with its rays

They held the glories of a new day’s scent

So precious were those moments that they spent

So much is shared therein a lover’s gaze

-

Then came that day when nothing was the same

He’d hoped for her she didn’t come around

Instead a flower laying on the ground

Reminding him he never asked her name

-

So many flowers now have met their fates

But with that flower at their spot he waits
