After a shaky start in the ratings last week, “The X Factor” continues with more drama, backstage clips, and auditions.
In Kansas City a guest judge was called in to sit in for Simon who was sick; he called in his friend Louis Walsh who is a judge on the British edition of the show.
The first audition was from Rizzlo Jones – and yes that is his real name – who is a freestyle rapper. Rizzlo did not have a prepared song for his audition, he asked for someone to give him a subject and he would create a rap for it. LA said X Factor. After his performance LA said that he liked Rizzlo’s flow, admired the bravery, and was really good. Louis said Rizzlo Jones remember that name; adding Rizzlo looked like a pop star. Britney called Rizzlo a youngbaby; adding that she liked it; and Demi said he surprised and impressed her. Rizzlo got four yeses.
Cece started out with “Unchained Melody” but was stopped very early and LA asked her to sing another song. Cece chose thesong “No Other Man”. Louis loved the ambition and talent; adding the music business nedded someone like her. Britney called Cece very talented with the whole package. LA said Cece had style, passion, ambition, and attitude. Cece got four yeses.
During a break Britney and Demi gave LA a birthday cake and Britney sang Happy Birthday.
Vino had more under his hat than a tattooed head. LA said that he heard something unique. Louis really liked the performance; adding Vino had something very special. Britney was inspired and Demi heard something she had not heard before. Vino got four yeses.
The good news came to an abrupt halt in the form of Deangelo. LA said that Deangelo was getting on their nerves even before he started singing and Demi said she was digging himself into a hole. While Deangelo was “singing” asong the judges walked out but Deangelo kept on going. When he finally left the stage Deangelo took the microphone with him. He was arrested.
And then there was Tate Stevens who brought the house down with his performance of “Anything Goes”. Demi said Tate blew her away. Louis said Tate had an amazing authentic country voice; adding they had found themselves a country star. Britney called the performance amazing and her favourite so far. LA said Tate was the best thing they’d seen in Kansas City; adding he was a true country star. Tate got four yeses.
Back to San Francisco and five guys who called themselves Citizen. As they performed “Don’t Let Go” the guys had the girls screaming. LA said it was a great song choice and arrangement. Britney said they totally rocked and she loved it. Demi said the guys had great voices and loved the harmonies. Simon said that he didn’t get it and the guys were 10 years out of date; adding the guys were in a time machine. Citizen got three yeses.
After a series of clips featuring a series of bad auditions and “mean” remarks by Simon, 13 year old Diamond took the stage and after a request from Simon NOT to perform an Adele song, she sang “It’s a Man’s World” to a cheering crowd and a standing ovation. LA told Diamond your mom got it right, you are a diamond. Demi said Diamond just grabbed them. Britney said Diamond brought it and was amazing. Simon said Diamond sang “It’s a Man’s World” but proved it wasn’t; adding that she was incredible and “blew the roof off” the place. Diamond got four yeses.
In Austin Ally sang “On My Knees” but when the music stopped she kept singing. Simon had trouble getting her to stop but said he had a feeling they were looking at a future star. LA was impressed and said Ally had a special voice. Ally blew Demi away and Britney thought Ally should be on Broadway. Ally got four yeses.
In a series of quick video clips Brandon, Normani, the trio Sister C, and the duo of Jeremiah and Josh all received yes votes.
Panda – real name – sang “Bring it on Home”. And although LA had trouble getting past the name he couldn’t deny that she was good and made a perfect song choice. Demi called her a character with a soulful voice. Britney said Panda had a good voice, was charming, and entertaining. Simon said Panda sounded like a legend. Panda got four yeses and right after her audition had trouble breathing and was taken to the hospital.
The final audition of the night was from Jessica who sang “Nobody Knows” by Pink. After her performance Jessica received a standing ovation…even from Simon. LA said she was really special. Britney called her amazing. Saying she didn’t know where to start, Demi also called Jessica amazing. Simon said, “I didn’t like it…I loved it.” He added that Jessica was his favourite so far. Jessica got four yeses. As the credits began to run, Simon compared Jessica to a young Pink.
