The Benghazi attack occurred a few hours after a mob stormed the US Embassy in Cairo and tore down the US flag – presumably to express their anger at the trailer of a movie which showed disrespect to Prophet Mohammad.
However, questions are doing the rounds as to whether it really was a spontaneous attack by a group of people who felt offended by a controversial movie which depicted Prophet Mohammad in bad light or whether it was a terror attack disguised as a sudden reaction of the masses.
In the opinion of US counterterrorism officials, the attack on the Benghazi consulate was a well-coordinated attack which reeked of professionalism.
It could be a sort of ‘remembering 9/11’ in the eyes of the terror groups.
It is revealed that a team of 50 US Marines were on their way to Libya to reinforce security at US diplomatic facilities.
