The United States ambassador to Libya, J. Christopher Stevens, and three others Americans officials were killed after rocket attacks hit the American Consulate in the city of Benghazi on Tuesday , September 11 , according to Libyan Deputy Prime Minister Mustafa Abu Shagour , reports Reuters.
"I do condemn the cowardly act of attacking the U.S. consulate and the killing of Mr. Stevens and the other diplomats," Libya's PM said on his account on Twitter.
While the deputy minister of the interior, Wanis al-Sharif said, "The ambassador was killed along with three other officials," according to AFP.
Christopher Stevens who was the U.S envoy to the Libyan rebel during the Libyan's revolution last year killed while trying to flee the consulate just then Libyan religious extremists protesters fired his vehicle by a rocket-propelled grenade according to Al-Jazeera’s correspondent in Benghazi.
The attack came just after armed Islamists protesters stormed , looted and set fire to the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi , angry about online movie -dubbing in Arabic- made by an Israeli-American in July in the United States denigrated the Prophet Muhammad according to the Wall Street Journal and Aljazeera.
