
Andy Murray won his first Grand Slam title finally beating the Serbian Novak Djokovic, 7-6, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2, in the U.S. Open Men’s singles final in New York City on Monday. 25-year-old Murray won the 1st set (7-6) against the defending champion Djokovic after a longest 22-point U.S. Open final tiebreaker. After losing 2 sets consecutively against Murray, Djokovic stormed back into the match and won the 3rd (6-2) and 4th (6-3) sets to make the 5th set to select the decisive winner. Murray cemented the 5th and final set (6-2) defeating Djokovic to win the 2012 U.S. Open title.
Murray now has become the first British man to win a Grand Slam singles since Fred Perry won the U.S. Championships in 1936.
