It was on Sept. 11, 2001 that terrorists flew two passenger planes directly into the World Trade Center in New York, resulting resulted in the tragic deaths of nearly 3000 innocent persons of all nationalities.
A new multibillion-dollar World Trade Center would once again dominate the lower Manhattan skyline on a 6.5-hectare (16-acre) site as the new towers are beginning to take shape.
This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz of dated 11th of September 2012.
The One World Trade Centre is scheduled to open in 2014 in the northwest corner of the trade center site - it would have 280,000sq m of office space.
The spire on top the 104-story building would be at a height of 541.3m and there would be observation decks on the 100th, 101st and 102nd floors.
The 72-story Four World Trade Center located at the southeast corner of the site is 298m in height and is scheduled to open in October next year.
The Three World Trade Center would be an 80-story building of height 350.5m and its completion date is in 2015 or 2016.
The Two World Trade Center situated at the northeast corner of the site is planned to be an 88-story skyscraper but will not be built until the commercial real estate market picks up enough to fill it.
There would also be a transportation hub which would link 13 subway lines and Path trains to New Jersey when it opens in 2015.
A center for performing arts is also planned for the site and the underground vehicle security centre and bus parking facility is expected to open next year.
