We really don’t know what made it happened whether it was a set of historical coincidences, the temperamental New York weather or just, at long last, it was finally Andy Murray’s time. Whatever the reasons were Murray, 25, wrapped up British tennis’ 76-year drought without a men’s Grand Slam tennis championship on Monday, outlasted defending champion Novak Djokovic in a classic five-set match (7-6, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2) at Flushing Meadows in conditions made changeable by the wind whirling around the Big Apple.
Yet, while the gentleman from Scotland was surely improved than his Serbian opponent, those who believe in destiny will surely be powerless to resist indirectly to a series of aspects that made this triumph appear as if it was written in the stars.
A job well-done, mate!
