It was October 30, 2010 when I stumbled upon a link button that led me to where I am now at this global site. The link provided the information that Allvoices.com is a web based global citizen journalism platform. I opened and toured the site, then, read, discovered and learned whatever I could about the people in it. I learned that the people I found in this site have one thing in common – the “will to write” and “graciousness to express, share and respect other people’s ideas, point of views, thoughts and opinions.” I learned a little about it but enough to propel me to the next single giant leap – registered at that hour without second thoughts.
About few hours after registration, I posted two pieces. Then, another one followed. After posting another story on November 02, 2010, I lost my accounted after accidentally clicking delete in the process of profile edit. After a week or two, my account was reinstated.
Fellow contributor writers started to come to comment on each post one after the other. Posting of news reports became a routine. It became a hobby to put idle time into some productive use as promised on the site. My Stringer status was elevated to “Reporter” in January, 2010.
I achieved “Anchor” in January, 2012 after two years being a Reporter for Allvoices.com.
By that time then, I became a known contributor writer for Causes, Politics and to certain degrees Education.
I won as commentators and friends AV contributor writers the calibers of Mrspleats, the late Senaratne, Veronica Roberts,, Nina Rai, Dava Castillo, , itobin53, fifleigh, richwebnews, Caitlin, Surya, Martin Kloess, Saleh1966, northsumn32, Abdel Fattah Hussien,Terry9, Karl Gotthart, Mary Stevens, Brigid Primrose, Adebanjos, Prabirghose, Adrian Holman and many more whose usernames or names could not be accommodated in a page or two. Interactions with such fellow writers always provide new strands of thought and understanding with any subject-matter brought to fore(those whose names not mentioned, please never feel slighted you are in the directory…he..he...LOL).
Whatever effort and time poured on to the routine of posting news reports, articles and stories have given off corresponding results. I received two Allvoices envelopes since then. The checks may not be as fat as expected but they were consolations of a devoted and dedicated hardwork.
At AV, I realized that there are pathogens and pests everywhere and existence of some are being felt here. I have encountered one or two or more who see the dirts on somebody’s face without knowing all their dirty faces. They concentrate looking at someone’s plow without minding the directions where their plows go to. It is really putting enough thoughts in one’s own conscience that counts foremost, before telling somebody to put thoughts on his own.
My fellow writers and friends, you can detect these viruses and diseases in the manners reflected in their comments in any of your pages. Being at a site like AV, is all about expressing and sharing good ideas, experiences, lessons and expertise for everyone to learn from them. Time for AV is for teaching and learning to and from one another. AV is not for fault finding, gossiping and quarrelling. Definitely, fault finders, trouble and mischief makers, the arrogants and the pebble minded have no room at AV.
Yes, I feel comfortable being here at Allvoices. AV is writer friendly site and very easy to use. Posting news reports, stories, articles, and uploading pictures are easily and leisurely done with great speed and accuracy. Performing one’s job at AV is an enjoyable and stress free experience rather than a taxing and condemnable task.
Qualities such as discernment, kindliness, firmness but loving, decisiveness, friendliness, hardworking, generosity, God fearing, forgiving and cultured, all make one to fit at AV.
At AV, I come to learn further that “Life on this mortal earth is full of ups and downs.”
