A goal by Mario Goetze and a double pack by Mesut Oezil secured a 3-0 win for the German side in a world cup qualifier in Hanover.

Although the game started slowly, Germany immediately took control of the game, but despite several opportunities was unable to score until the 28th minute, when Mario Goetze dribbled the ball up to the penalty area placed the ball from the left foot to the right foot and fired a shot at the net, which landed in the corner for a 1-0 lead.

All in all Germany had 12 super chances in the first half and the score should have been much higher. Nielsen, who is the no. 3 keeper for Manchester United made some spectacular safes and many of the German attempts missed the mark.

The second half proved to be a little more successful for the Germans in the scoring department, a double pack by Mesut Oezil ensured a 3-0 end result.

In the 54th minute Oezil got his first goal after Khedeira and Oezil had a successful counter up the right side. Oezil passed to Mueller, who passed a ball high into the 5 meter area, Oezil was in place and catapulted the ball into the goal for a 2-0 German lead.

In the 71st minute a failed pass by the Faroe player Hanssen landed near Reus, who with a quick fake move was past the menacing defenders. Taking his time he noticed Oezil and passed the ball toward the penalty area. Oezil ran onto the ball moved it into the penalty area and fired at the target. Nielsen gets a piece of it but is unable to prevent the ball from crossing the line for a 3-0 lead.

While the outcome was predictable, Germany has, in the past, not taking weaker opponents seriously. Today the team was motivated. After their loss to Italy in the European Cup, spectators expect nothing but the best.

Draxler, Reus and Podolski replaced Klose, Goetze and Mueller in the second half. 22,000 attended the match in Hanover.

Germany plays Austria in the next qualifier on Tuesday, September 11th in Austria.
