
It’s time again for the MTV VMAs – Video Music Awards – being presented from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The awards show this year was hosted by Kevin Hart and while standing on the red carpet during the pre-show, Hart said nobody was safe.
This year the VMAs brought a first with a double decker red carpet.
While celebrity fans were lining the red carpet screaming for their favourite celebrities, Calvin Harris entertained MVA fans inside the Staples Center.
The first Moonman Award was presented on the red carpet for Best Video with a Message to Demi Lovato for “Skyscraper”.
The second VMA Moonman from the red carpet was for a new category – Best Electronic Dance Music Video (EDM) went to Calvin Harris for “Feel So Close”.
Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifia made a special announcement telling the world that they are having a baby!!!!
The Most Shareworthy Video Award was presented from the red carpet to One Direction for “What Makes You Beautiful”.
The Awards show opened with a performance from Rihanna.
Host Kevin Hart was introduced as the future President of the United States. He came down the aisle complete with a security detail who had to take care of a “too excited” fan. He then proceeded to “discuss” mistakes.
Katy Perry presented the award for Best Pop Video to One Direction for “What Makes You Beautiful”.
Pink sang her newest single “Blow Me One Last Kiss” in a performance that included flying through the aird, giant lips, and lots of confetti.
The Best Male Video Award went to Chris Brown for “Turn Up the Music”.
Frank Ocean performed “Thinking About You”.
The Best Hip-Hop Video went to Drake with Lil Wayne for “HYFR”.
British boy band One Direction performs for a screaming crowd.
The award for the Best Female Video went to Nicki Minaj for “Starships”.
Billboard chart topping artist 2 Chainz performed.
On a small stage situated in the middle of the crowd, Green Day performed with all members after lead singer Bill Jo Armstrong was recently released from the hospital.
The Best New Artist Video went to One Direction for “What Makes You Bealutiful”
Alicia Keys performed her new single “Girl’s on Fire”; she was joined on stage by Nicki Minaj and Gabriel Douglas with a little tumbling.
The Best Video of the Year went to Rihanna with Calvin Harris for “We Found Love”
The final performance of the night was from Taylor Swift.
