Sahar Biniaz, 26, was crowned Miss Universe Canada on May 19.
A petition was launched three days ago at Change.org and till now signed more then 2000 to strip Sahar Biniaz of her title who is going to represent Canada in the coming Miss Universe contest in December.
According to The Vancouver Sun,the Vancouver resident was a victim of a pit bull attack when she was 14 , and thinks the province should adopt either an outright pit bull ban or at least bring in regulations stating that pit bulls must be leashed and muzzled at all times.
In an interview she said,"I was just sitting down and it just kept staring at me, and I don't know what aggravated it," .It just all of sudden, for no reason, it just went off.I still have scars on my chest of that brutal attack.When ever I heard of pitbull attack i can feel the terror."
Her bold statement and her meeting and support to a local Alan Campbell to help turn the proposed ban on pit bulls into provincial law has caused a fury to the supporters of pit bulls and animal rights advocates.
On an article in the Journal of Humanitarian Affairs, dozens of comments came against Biniaz’s stance on pit bulls in BC,considered pit bulls as innocent and just like family members or good friends.
Recent and vicious pit bull attacks on children have renewed calls for a pit bull ban in the province.
