McDonald’s is opening two vegetarian-only restaurants for the first time ever in India. Both of the restaurants will start serving from next year. One of the vegetarian-only restaurants will open in the Amritsar city and another one in the town of Katra. The two places have religious values. Amritsar is considered as the holiest site for the Sikhs and Katra is a take-rest point for Hindus visiting the mountain shrine of Vaishno Devi. That’s why McDonald’s decides to serve only vegetarian food items in their outlets there.
“A vegetarian store makes absolute sense in the places which are famous as pilgrimage sites,” McDonald's India spokesperson Rajesh Kumar Maini told the Financial Times.
