European parliament building, Brussels.

Europe's multi-million pound parliament building has had to close for safety reasons.

Cracks have appeared in beams supporting the ceiling of the debating chamber; so the building has been closed as a precaution.

The crumbling complex opened in 1955 has swallowed up £1.5 billion in maintenance costs to date.

Corruption allegations exist which coupled with the employ of loopholes to avoid EU laws on public procurement have re-surfaced.

Nigel Farrage leader of the english party UKIP who campaign on an anti-european ticket has said :- " It is a fantastic metaphor for the structureless weaknesses of the EU."

I would go further than that by saying " The EU is run by an entire collection of jobsworths who's profligacy is so extreme that it is unquantifiable in the matter of lifestyles and social engineering. Federation which is their target; is unattainable because of the huge disparitys in member states ecomomies making fiscal union an impracticality. "

Worse than the factors above is widespread corruption which is rampant from top to bottom.

I live in hope of dissolution of the EU.
