Jim Messina's formula to get at least 270 electors to re-elect President Barack Obama

Jim Messina is the Obama campaign general manager. His biggest task is to determine where to get at least 270 Electoral College votes needed to re-elect Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. This is a great task given to General Manager Messina. The task will test the efficiency and effectiveness of Messina as campaign manager.

Messina designed formula, at least 270 “electors” to give the “Majority” votes of 270 to Obama are found in the states as follows:

1. Florida - 29 electoral votes

2. Midwest via Ohio and Indiana with a combined 29 electoral votes

3. The “New South” route through two Virginia with 13 electoral votes

4. North Carolina 15 electoral votes

The formula purports that any of the five routes will be able to give the “Majority” votes of 270 out of 538 Electoral College votes. This makes it very interesting to watch and follow through as implemented.

Considering the quality of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, soundness of his campaign, the Messina strategy is far better than that of the other side of the fence. It shows where the numbers game must be played well in order to re-elect Obama for a second term.

Candidate Obama is observed strong among American women voters and so with the Latinos. Hopefully some of the 270 electors will come from these sectors of the American electorate. To enable Obama to take the White House home run with much facility as planned and expected, campaign Manager Jim Messina strategized to obtain 270 electoral votes for re-election which involves a variety and balance than heavily relying on one plan to get 270 votes.

To realize this, he highlighted six different routes among 40 being considered actively in order to gain a majority in the Electoral College. Hence, the Obama campaign uses the John Kerry electoral map from 2004 as a baseline.

Messina predicts that Obama can count on Kerry states in 2012, an assumption is entirely not without basis because there are some polls show GOP bets poll competitively, or even outdo Obama like in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Hampshire.

Granting President Obama gets all Kerry states as his campaign manager proposes, such would only yield a little majority. Florida is singled out alone with its 29 electoral votes would give the needed 270 votes to Obama when he clings on to all Kerry states.

Another way to get 270 votes is to use the Midwest via Ohio and Indiana having a combined 29 electoral votes. The “New South” route through two Virginia with 13 electoral votes and North Carolina’s 15 electoral to make a majority.

The Messina formula clearly strategized the road for Barack to go back to the White House for the second time around. Will it work as planned?

As per announced schedule already circulated, the Democratic Party National Convention (DNC) will be on September 04, 2012 in Charlotte. This big political event is happening today.

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker will attend it for the first serving as a delegte for the state of Oklahoma. Chief Baker was born 4th generation Cherokee and raised in the Cherokee Nation capital Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

On August 07, 2012, Former President and Democratic Party Grand Old Man Jimmy Carter announced he will address the 2012 Democratic National Convention in prime time on Tuesday, September 4th. President Carter will deliver his speech virtually through video because will not be present in Charlotte for the event saying, Rosalyn and I regret that we will be unable to be at the Democratic Convention this in Charlotte. However, we remain steadfast in our support for President Obama and the progress he will make in the next four year.”

Announced presence of Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Baker to DNC and President Carter’s gracious support for President Obama are great and clear indications that Messina formula will work. If it will materialize on 4th September, it will also, apply on November 06, 2012.
