
The Global Associated News claimed recently that Murphy had passed away in a snowboarding accident in Switzerland. The rumor was initiated with so much detail that it also mentioned how the comedian had lost control of his board and gone crashing into a tree, suffering critical injuries. Once the matter got a lot of hype online due to curious fans, the Global Associated News put up an entertainment disclaimer that said the rumor was only posted for entertainment purposes.
The disclaimer on the website read, "This story is 100% fake! This is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes."
His fans got a sigh of relief after finding out that he was alive and didn’t collapse in any snowboarding accident. Despite this disclaimer, now several media websites continue to claim that he died hence the rumors about his hoax death continue to spread online. This news was reported by Examiner.
Murphy has managed to get plenty of media attention lately because of death rumors. Only last month he became a victim of a similar news and fans got flustered after finding out that he didn’t die. Eddy Murphy is currently working an exciting sitcom for television called, Beverly Hills Cop. According to Vulture; Murphy, The Shield creator Shawn Ryan and Sony Pictures Television will be joining hands to bring the fish-out-water cop Axel Foley and/or his son along with a cop buddy to the small screen. In addition to acting as the show's executive producer, Murphy will apparently also act as an actor on the pilot and make special appearances on the show. Fans should be more excited about this show than Eddy’s hoax death news as they to spread online.
Murphy was also supposed to host the 84th Academy Awards in 2012. However, he dropped out of his hosting duties on November 9, 2011, due to the Brett Ratner scandal.
Eddy isn’t the only actor who became a victim of these hoax rumors. Renowned stars like, Bill Cosby, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson, Margaret Thatcher, Phil Collins, Kris Jenner, Denzel Washington, Adele, John Witherspoon, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga have been subjected to such gimmicks before.
