On the morning of 29th August 2012, Presidentand First Lady Ani Yudhoyono attends the summit event for the commemoration of the national Day of Children at the Golden Snail Theatre (Keong Mas) at Taman Mini Indah Indonesia.
According to setkab.go.id In his address, President SBY stated the importance of ensuring the protection and empowerment of children nationwide to ensure the bright future of not only the children but also for the family and the nation.
In his remarks, he underlined the importance for parent to make the time to invest in the golden years of the children, that is from birth to 8 years old, with values namely to be honorable, to be spiritual, to be sports active, and most importantly, to cherish their parents. He also encouraged that parents be aware of and to invest the phases of life, which were childhood, teenage life, adulthood, and the elderly; and the fact that one phase will be greatly influence by the previous phase. Hence a bad childhood could impact in the teenage years and hence through adulthood and elderly, which in fact not only affected the individual but also the family and the nation
On knowledge and learning, he encouraged children to take advantage of the Internet for greater useful and valuable knowledge, and not for negative purposes. To this end, children were encouraged to study well, eat well, and make plenty of friends to be ready for the dynamic and competitive future.
"wise words says" the President stated that "All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today", therefore the beauty of Indonesian flowers of the future, will greatly depend upon the way we together prepare our prime seeds today"
With this, the President promised not only more education of primary and secondary schooling, but also pre-schooling and better nutritions to ensure that Indonesian will be fully empowered mentally and also nutritionally in 2045 as it commemorates he first centenary of Indonesia's independence.
In his closing remarks, the president made a special address to the children present and to all children nation wide. With a fatherly tone and a gaze of patience and hope to the children sitting before him
"to my children whereever you may be, we, your elders, truly love you all. Once again I give you fatherly advise, for you to continue learning, diligently pray, and passionately play sports, continue living in harmony with your friends. I also advise you to respect and be obedient to your parents and teachers. Continue to achieve success and recreation so that you may become prime people in the future" SBY advised these young children.
And to the teenagers, he continued his fatherly advise.
"to my children that are in their pre-teen and teenage years, I also give you fartherly advise, to stay clear from drugs, to stay away form acts that digress and are unbecoming. In this age of advance media technology, especially the Internet, I remind you not to be influenced nor tempted by media materials that may be negative, uneducating and even corruptive for you. Benefit the Internet to learn and to deepen knowledge that would make you more intelligent, knowledge that is beneficial, and enhances your academic achievements at school" SBY concluded.
"Those are the fatherly advise and hopes I share with you, my children, the children of Indonesia. May you all always be protected and be blessed by Allah the All- Mighty, and that you continue to grow to become sons and daughters of a nation that is prime and advanced." SBY appealed to the children and to the Lord above.
"Selamat Hari Anak Nasional 2012 ( Rejoice on National Children's Day 2012)" President SBY wished them all.
The children cheered to their beloved President with a great sense of pride and inspiration as SBY stepped down from podium and returned to his seat with Ibu Ani awaiting with a motherly smile observing the excited children. Through-out the morning the children performed dances from various races and religions nationwide, with clapping songs and poetry, and swinging their coloured umbrellas and noise making toys, and singing loving lullabies "President siapa yang punya (President, who does he belong to) yang punya kita semua ( he belongs to all of us) yang punya Indonesia (he belongs to Indonesia)" the children sung.
