It will now be up to Mitt’s wife, 63-year old Ann Romney, to take the stage and paint a rosy picture of her husband so that the women voters, who till now appear to be in favor of Barack Obama, get influenced enough to switch their loyalties.

Mitt Romney has not been able to leave a deep impression on the electorate and has been criticized several times for the various comments and ‘foot-in-the-mouth’ statements that he had made while on a global tour.
His weaknesses have kept on surfacing at various forums the latest one being when he introduced Paul Ryan, the VP hopeful, as the next President of USA.
Earlier, during his world tour, he had questioned the preparedness of London to host the 2012 London Olympics.
In Warsaw, it was the now-famous ‘kiss-my-ass’ gaffe at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Then there was the inference to Israeli culture and his interpretations of why Israelis are more economically successful than Palestinians – this did not go down well with Palestinian leaders.
Those memories would be haunting him – it is now Ann Romney who can possibly rescue him from the mess which is his own creation.
It is a fact that Ann Romney is a far better campaigner than her husband and she is not a career woman but one who has had her ups and downs – she is more in the mould of a supportive wife and homemaker likeand Laura Bush.
Moreover, she had two reported miscarriages, has overcome breast cancer and suffers from the incurable and potentially debilitating illness of multiple sclerosis.
And – through all these trying times, her husband has stood beside her. These bits of information would probably make women more sympathetic towards her and help them to assess Mitt Romney in a different light but, can it make a real difference in the final reckoning?
Ann Romney would have to prove that behind every successful man, there is a woman.
Time only will tell whether she has succeeded in her noble mission to win over the hearts of the women voters who could tilt the scales in Mitt’s favor.
