Rihanna and Joan Rivers in a Twitter feud

79-year-old Joan Rivers took to Twitter to warn Rihanna against getting close to Chris Brown, as he was the same man who physically assaulted her in February 2009. The “Fashion Police” presenter called the 24-year-old singer an "idiot" after seeing her open up about Brown to Oprah Winfrey.

Rihanna’s candid interview on Oprah Winfrey’s show caused a stir after she admitted that she still loved her abusive ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown. Although some praised the singer for her brave persona, others - including comedian Joan Rivers - blasted her for her emotional breakdown in spite of the horrific 2009 incident that left her battered and bruised.

According to reports, Joan Rivers tweeted, "Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it's my turn to slap her."

The post infuriated Rihanna so much that she quickly responded, "Wow, you really do get slow when you're old, huh?" Although she deleted the tweet after a while, she added later, "Slap on some diapers.”

In an interview on “Oprah's Next Chapter” last week, Rihanna confessed to the 58-year-old talk show queen that she still had feelings for Chris Brown even after he was arrested for beating her up after a pre-Grammy party in 2009.

"We love each other and we probably always will, and that's not anything that we're going to try to change,” the “We Found Love” hitmaker spilled to Oprah.

“I think he was the love of my life. He was my first love and I see that he loved me the same way. I truly love him. The main thing for me is he's at peace. I'm not at peace if he's not happy or he's still lonely. I care. It actually matters that he finds that peace."

Meanwhile, Rivers used the micro-blogging website again to offer some advice to Rihanna before inviting her to appear on her own show. "Honey, Rihanna, everyone knows: If he hit you once, he'll hit you again. Read the statistics. PS - Love to have you on 'Fashion Police'!" the presenter wrote.

According to Daily Mail, Rihanna admitted to Oprah that since the restraining order against Chris Brown was lifted in February 2011, they had started working on being friends again.

“We've been working on our friendship again and now we're very close friends,” she said. “And that's not anything we're going to try to change.”

Rihanna went on to say that the pair would not get romantic all over again, noting Chris Brown is dating his long-term girlfriend, model Karrueche Tran. However, memories of their relationship will last a long time, she added.
