Insecurity continues in southern Afghanistan where the Taliban militants allegedly beheaded as many as 17 civilians. The death victims included 2 female dancers, said Daud Ahmadi, a spokesman for the Helmand provincial governor.
In his statement on Monday, Daud said ‘I can confirm that Taliban are behind the brutal act’ and added ‘the victims were two women and fifteen men, who were beheaded by Taliban.’ The terrifying incident occurred in a village in the southern Afghanistan in the Helmand province when the Taliban allegedly ‘raided’ a late night party; with music.
According to the details, the Taliban insurgents later beheaded fifteen men along with the said two women who were found dancing during the party. Such late night parties, organized secretly though, are pretty common but since this particular party was going on in an area; under the Taliban’s control; the participants had to pay heavy price for their ‘daring act.’
The recent incident proves that the Taliban have managed to reasserted strict control in Afghanistan where violence has recently surged again. Countless incidents of infiltration into Afghan Security Forces, particularly over the past few weeks, have caused significant losses to NATO; in 2012 alone, as many as 39 NATO servicemen have lost their lives in the war-torn Afghanistan.
Further, an elderly tribal man from the Musa Qala district also confirmed that in recent past; this particular region had already seen a surge in similar killings. The terrifying beheadings were followed by a militant attack; leaving at least 10 Afghan soldiers dead at an Afghan military checkpoint.
