In 1987 an Australian rock band who called themselves INXS released an album that became appropriately called “Kick” because the album literally kicked the band’s career into orbit and changed everything. “Kick” was the sixth album release for the band of Michael Hutchence, Kirk Pengilly, Garry Gary Beers, and Andrew, Jon, and Tim Farriss. The album sold over 14 million copies around the world with eight million of them in the US alone.
This September the band will celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of “Kick” with a special release of the album that will include a variety of formats – Deluxe, Super Deluxe, and Digital.
Among the features of the Super Deluxe package will be previously unreleased home video footage with the band’s original lead singer Michael Hutchence and some hand written song lyrics by the singer.
The Deluxe edition includes two CDs – the album and a disc of remixes and bonus songs.
The Super Deluxe edition includes the Deluxe version, an extra bonus disc; a DVD; and a 64 page book of art, handwritten lyrics, and photos. A limited edition red vinyl edition is also being planned.
The album is set for a September 17 release.
INXS formed in 1977 in Sydney. Over the years the band have sold over 30 million albums, been inducted into the Australian Record Industry Association Hall of Fame, have won ARIA Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Rolling Stone Awards, BRIT Awards, World Music Awards, and People’s Choice Awards.
