Clinton Louisiana. A Clinton police spokesman for police chief Eddie Stewart said on Saturday the police arrested a Baker Louisiana resident who is accused of the shooting death of a Clinton man on Wednesday August 8 during a drug deal.
Clinton Police Staff Sergeant James Cook said 30 year old Quinton Rashad Loydell of Baker Louisiana was booked into the East Feliciana Parish Prison on manslaughter charges after shooting 42 year old Isaac Simmons.
Cook said when Loydell was taken into custody he had drug paraphernalia, scales and marujuana in his automobile. The police took possession of the automobile, the marijuana and drug paraphernalia from Loydell when he was arrested on Friday.
Stewart said earlier in August that Simmons was shot as he was walking down the street where a drug deal was going on but he had no connection to the drug dealers. The drug deal became an attempted robbery.
26 year old Jerald Matthews and 25 year old Cordero L Morgan both of Baton Rouge were booked by the police on first degree murder charges in the death of Simmons.
Loydell was also charged with distrubing drugs, conspiracy to sell drugs and participation in drug profits.
More arrests are expected in this criminal case.
