SpVgg Fuerth vs FC Bayern Muenchen

Bayern, Duesseldorf and Dortmund in the lead after Matchday 1

FC Bayern celebrated the 50th Bundesliga with a 3-0 victory over newly promoted Greuther Fuerth, while Duesseldorf edged out FC Augsburg with a 2-0 lead. On Friday Dortmund opened its season with a 2-1 win over Werder Bremen.

Munich put the ball away three times with Thomas Mueller's goal just before the first half ended. Mandzukic got his first Bayern Bundesliga goal in the 59th minute on a rebound. The final nail in Greuther Fuerth's coffin was an own goal on a deflection of a Robben shot.

Jakub Blaszczykowski scored the first goal of the new season for defending champion Borussia Dortmund and Bremen's Aumotovic tied the game in the 75th minute. Dortmund came back to take the three points 81st minute with Mario Goetze's goal in the 81st minute.

Newly promoted club Fortuna Duesseldorf edged FC Augsburg by two goals, definitely a good start into the season. Mainz and Freiburg played to a 1-1 draw, while Hoffenheim lost against Borussia MoenchenGladbach 2-1.

1.FC Nuernberg edged out a win in Hamburg, defeating the Hanseaten 1-0. Eintracht Frankfurt collected an important three points by coming back from a 1-0 Leverkusen lead and scoring two unanswered goals to defeat the factory eleven 2-1. The match looked to get out of control, but settled after the referee issued a couple of warnings. Schuerrle and Riessling had several good opportunities but Frankfurt overcame a lacking Leverkusen defence.

The VFB Stuttgart vs Wolfsburg game was lively to say the least. A late penalty kick in favour of Stuttgart was blocked and an open net rebound missed. Just one minute later Wolfsburg found a weakness in defence and put the game away for the Wolves in the 90th minute. Final score 1-0

In Sunday's only match last year's Schalke 04 was hosted by Hanover 96. The match seemed awkward during the beginning phases of the match. Hanover finally opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, when Felipe buried a header in the net. During the second half Schalke appeared to have gained their rhythm and Huntelaar got his first goal of the new season at the 52 minute mark. Huntelaar fired a bomb in the low right corner of the target for a draw.

In the 64th minute Lewis Holtby took a pass from Jermain Jones and converted it into a 2-1 lead for Schalke. Jan Schlaudraff equaled the score in the 80th minute.

While standings after matchday one are not all too significant, they contribute to the overall standings. For the time being Bayern Muenchen has taken the lead, followed by Fortuna Duesseldorf and Borussia Dortmund. Gladbach, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Nuernberg and Wolfsburg round up the top seven, equal with Dortmund in points and goal difference.
