Armstrong dies at age 82

The former American astronaut Neil Armstrong, who commanded the historic landing on the moon as commander of Apollo 11 spacecraft and the first human walk on moon surface on July 20, 1969, has died on Saturday August 25 at age 82 according to a statement released by Armstrong's family confirming that he died from complications "resulting from cardiovascular procedures" after heart surgery in Columbus, Ohio on August 8th , but they didn't mention anything about where he died.

U.S. President Barack Obama on Sunday has paid tribute to Neil Armstrong, in a statement, saying that he was "a man who taught us the enormous power of one small step." "Neil was among the greatest of American heroes - not just of his time, but of all time,"

He Added "When he and his fellow crew members lifted off aboard Apollo 11 in 1969, they carried with them the aspirations of an entire nation. They set out to show the world that the American spirit can see beyond what seems unimaginable - that with enough drive and ingenuity, anything is possible,"

While NASA Administrator Charles Bolden mourned the death of Neil Armstrong saying "as long as there are history books, Neil Armstrong will be included in them."

What was amazing about Neil was his humble attitude and not letting success get to his head. He will be missed beyond words.

Sad to note that the man responsible
for mankind's giant leap by taking
the first step on the moon, is no
more. May his soul rest in peace.
