Interior Ministry has directed to the capital police to oppose the appeal of bail of a young Christian girl arrested on blasphemy charges, BBC reported. It also further instructed the police not to arrest the protestors, who are protesting against the arrest of Down syndrome 11 year old Rimsha on blasphemy charges. An official on the condition not to disclose his name told the BBC that the report of Intelligence Bureau and Capital police explained that if the Rimsha would be released on bail in that case her and her family members’ lives would be in danger. The reports said that there would be threat to the life of the girl if she releases, therefore, her life would safe in jail till the issue is not being resolved and the sentiments of the masses not cool down. BBC reported that after these reports the officials of Interior Ministry have given only oral directions to the Islamabad Police in this regard, however, the Capital Police officials neither denied nor verify the news reports. It is pertinent to mention here that the Christian girl Rimsha was arrested on August 16, 2012 for allegedly burning pages inscribed with verses from the Holy Quran.
