North Waziristan: A grand Jirgan in which the North Waziristan militants Shura ( Muhjahidin Shura), Grand Waziristan peace jirga members, elders of the Uthamanzai tribe and local ulema participated held at Dara-ul-Ulom Eidak, Subdivision Mir Ali North Waziristan and decided to act upon the peace agreement entered between the Government and local tribal in 2006.
The Jirga alleged that the government is not abiding the peace agreement and the harassment of the local trial at various check posts is an explicit example of it, the Jirga asked the government to abide the terms and conditions of “the Peace Agreement, 2006.”
The Grand Jirga also asked the government to clear its position and tell the people of North Waziristna either Military Operation will be launched or not, because there is confusion and fear among the local tribal, the Jirga added.
The Jirga decided that in case of Military Operation in North Wazirsitan, the local tribal will not migrate to the cities of Pakistan as they will be not treated properly, and will migrate across the border to Afghanistan, adding the formal permission will be asked and surety will be given to the Afghan government that only IDPs will come to Afghanistan and no militant will go there across the border into Afhganistan.
It was a Grand Jirga in which more than 2000 tribal participated, including the trible elders of Uthmanzai, Religious Clerics and member of the North Waziristan Shura.
When this scribe contacted Maulana Gulramazan an elder and Ex president of Grand Waziristan peace jirga, he said that they have shared these points discussed in the jirga with political administration in the area. He said the jirga members stressed upon the administration to avoid military operation and come forward with talks to settle the issue, as according to him war is not the ultimate solution of any problem, but peaceful talks can prove better in handling the situation prevails in the area.
