Officiating speech by Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Musa Aman delivered by Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah, Datuk Masidi Manjun said, “It gives me great pleasure to be here today to launch Accor's "Destination Malaysia-Sabah" website (Accorhotels.com/sabah), a dedicated online travel showcase that aims to help travelers worldwide to understand and appreciate the diversity of culture, people and natural attractions that Sabah offers”.
“In this day of fast paced information and communication technology, I am convinced that this website will play an integral role in promoting both Sabah and your hotels”. Said Masidi.

Today, Accor global e-commerce platform of 16 sites across 32 emitting markets attracts an average 17 million unique visitors per month. Accorhotels.com alone boasts average traffic of 7.6 million unique visitors per month from all over the world, up 21% from 2010. The Malaysia-Indonesia-Singapore point of sales alone on Accorhotels.com captures 125,000 visitors, an average 384,000 visits, generating more than 15,000 bookings a month, a growth of 56%.
Recognizing the importance of destination marketing, Accor has developed a dedicated Destination Malaysia-Sabah website (Accorhotels.com/sabah) to promote Sabah to international travelers and existing Accor customers, who are new to the destination.
This website has been designed to constantly provide updated information, in partnership with both Sabah Tourism Board and Tourism Malaysia, to the internet user so that informed decisions can be made as to their travel itineraries in Malaysia.
“We aim to increase visitors to Tourism Malaysia, Sabah Tourism and Accor website through cross referrals, digital multimedia content collaboration with the relevant authorities”, said Gerard.
Through this website, Accor are helping travelers to plan their holiday by offering them a glimpse into Sabah on their computer screens.

Last year, Malaysia attracted 24.6 million tourists, translating into RM56.5 billion in tourism receipts, making this sector one of the top revenue sources for the country.
