Sportscraft debuted their Menswear Spring/Summer 2012/2013 collection on the catwalk of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney 2012 on August 24, 2012 in Sydney, Australia.
This Menswear Spring/Summer 2012/2013 collection is definitely taking cue from the runways of Milan Menswear fashion week where Italian designers clearly favored short suits for men, both relaxed and formal at once, offering the summery look of shorts but dressing things up with a blazer. Though Aussie men are no strangers to wear shorts as formal attire with dress shoes and jackets!
Sportscraft sticks to a similar color palette as their Womenswear Spring/Summer 2012/2013 collection, offering the warmth of corals and the coolness of jade and seafoam green, toned down with teaming separates with neutrals such as khaki and grey.
Pastels such as baby blue shorts and a blue and navy floral button-down shirt are teamed with a pearl grey blazer and navy topsiders.
Ensembles are accessorized with boating shoes (or topsiders as they’re called in the U.S.) and loafer, sans socks for added coolness and by that we’re not referring to temperature but finessing a casual elegance…
Hipster jeans are also rolled up to expose the ankle in a semi Capri look, except that the short sleeved casual shirt is dressed up with a plaid tie.
A casual light khaki suit is teamed with navy and white, mixing a printed shirt with a spotted tie. Then again a quite formal black suit is teamed with a navy blue and red striped tie and a (floral?) printed pocket kerchief.
Taking inspiration from the Mediterranean yet again, cobalt blue trousers are teamed with a turquoise sweater.
A sign was displayed backstage to instruct models on their conduct during the Fashion festival Sydney 2012 that I cannot help but share here in my slideshow.
It instructed that models should be confident, natural, happy, refrain from “cheesy ‘fashion’ poses” and to “have fun!!” So, apparently no brooding, sultry looks or pausing with a challenging look accompanied by one hand on hip was allowed… And yes – there were no cheesy poses from the male models as requested!
But back to the Sportscraft Menswear Spring/Summer 2012/2013 collection, shorts suits are equally important as those with trousers and prints and pastels figure quite prominently as well… Enjoy the slideshow!
