Romney's energy plan threatens public health, environment, national parks

Is Ahmadinejad supporting Karl Rove and Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney has been vague on details for what he might do if elected president. That is not the case with the environment: Romney would destroy it.

“What Governor Romney is proposing is that state governments, which already control the development of energy resources on their own and private lands within their borders, would also control the development of energy resources on federal lands within their borders,” said Oren Cass, the campaign’s domestic policy director, in a conference call with reporters Wednesday, according to the New York Times.

America's national parks would no longer be protected from oil drilling, fracking and coal mining.

Romney claims the permanent destruction of America's natural environment is an acceptable trade-off for jobs and alleged energy independence.

Additionally, Romney would eliminate most, if not all, clean environmental regulations, leaving the public exposed to chemical pollution containing known carcinogens. His plan to expand coal-mining operations would not only permanently damage the land; it would also increase pollution from one of the dirtiest sources of energy in America.

Perhaps the most tragic offense in Romney's plan to pander to the Koch brothers, his biggest energy business campaign donors, is oil drilling in America's pristine national parks.

"Congress has received hundreds of thousands of emails, faxes and phone calls from citizens opposed to drilling in the Arctic Refuge, an outpouring that has helped make the difference. And polls have consistently shown that a majority of Americans oppose drilling, even in the face of high gas prices and misleading claims from oil interests," according to the NRDC.

But Romney would ignore those pleas. He would also threaten America's shores with deregulated off shore oil drilling.

Imagine the potential for repeated BP Deepwater Horizon disasters from new off shore wells not required to be inspected by government safety officials.

The battle between jobs, energy and the environment has been a long one for pro-big oil Republicans. But it is also one that Americans have spoken loud and clear on: They do not want the country permanently destroyed on behalf of big oil.

What Romney fails to disclose in his quest to use job creation as an excuse to pollute and destroy is the undeniable fact that oil produced in America does not mean lower energy prices.

No matter where oil is produced, it is sold on the open market and speculators drive prices. So if America flooded the market with oil, while it may temporarily cause a glut, any price reductions would be temporary, as they have always been in the past.

Furthernore, any threat of disruption in political stability of the Middle East would still send gas prices skyward, no matter how many national treasures are sacrificed in the U.S.

Americans are susceptible to scare tactics when they are given the promise of jobs. But promises from politicians in an election year are not worth a dime. Just look at Congress. Two years ago, the Tea Party swept control of the House on the promise of more jobs. Where are they?

As for Romney's energy plan for jobs: What good is a job if the pollution is causes kills you?

The Romney energy plan sounds like it was written by the Koch bros. The pollution is unimaginable and will turn America the beautiful into a third world dump. Add to that the 40 million that will lose health insurance under Romney-Ryan and you get a sick and dying population.

I'm sure the plan sounds great to the 'red state' population. They believe anything the Tea Party cult says.

ROMNEY'S ENERGY PLAN IS SOMEWHAT 100% BETTER THAN OBAMA'S ENERGY PLAN.

THE BP DISASTER HAPPENED UNDER OBAMA, NOT ROMNEY.
ROMNEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
OBAMA'S INEPTNESS AND USELESS TOO-LATE RESPONSE HAD EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE CONSEQUENCES.

OBAMA NIXED KEYSTONE GAS PIPELINE TO THE US FROM CANADA
OBAMA NIXED OIL DRILLING ON SHORE AND OFF SHORE
OBAMA ENCOURAGED DRILLING OFF SHORE IN BRAZIL AND MEXICO AND ALLOWED HIS MAN WARREN BUFFETT TO MAKE TENS OF MILLIONS BY INVESTING IN BRAZIL BEFORE THE DECISION WAS MADE TO LIMIT DRILLING IN THE USA
SOLYNDRA BROKE
ANOTHER LARGER SOLAR PANEL MAKER BROKE
BOTH BROKE AFTER OBAMA HAD SPENT $1.5 BILLION OF TAXPAYER'S MONEY
OBAMA CALLED AN "INVESTMENT"
GM - GOVERNMENT MOTORS - IS GOING BROKE, ANOTHER INVESTMENT IN ALTERNATIVE REALITY, AS ONLY THE GOVERNMENT IS BUYING GM CARS, NOT MANY OTHERS...

OBAMA CO-OPERATED WITH THE SAUDIS AND OTHER GULF STATES TO INCREASE GAS PRICES TO WHAT THEY ARE TODAY AT THE PUMP.
VOTE AGAIN FOR OBAMA AND REMEMBER WHAT YOU'RE PAYING AT THE PUMPS.

ITOBIN'S IS SPECULATION ABOUT WHAT ROMNEY MIGHT DO, NOT WHAT HE'S DONE. THAT IS WHY SPECULATION IS MEANINGLESS, BUT HISTORICAL RECORD IS VERY MEANINGFUL.

LIKE MEDI-SCARE - ITOBIN'S IS ENERGY-SCARE.

NEITHER IS TRUE. NOT A SINGLE WORD OF IT.

WHAT I HAD SUBMITTED ABOVE IS A MATTER OF RECORD. IT IS WHAT OBAMA HAS DONE, NOT WHAT HE WILL DO.

WHAT HE WILL DO IS MORE OF THE SAME AND IT'LL ONLY GET WORSE.

MORE OF THE SAME WILL IMPOVERISH OUR NATION AS LESS OF THE SAME HAS ALREADY DONE.

AS HE SAID BEFORE HE WAS ELECTED, OBAMA'S AGENDA IS TO DRIVE ENERGY PRICES THROUGH THE ROOF. I SAY HE HAS SUCCEEDED HANDILY.

Duh - no president controls gas prices. Oil is sold on the open market regardless of where it was produced. Speculators determine prices - everyone knows that.

The BP disaster was the result of Bush 43 roll-backs of safety regulation, inspections and big oil govt. corruption. (See my 2011 appearance on the History Channel's DECODED series)

The GOP is not a political party - it is now a cult. All truth and facts are replaced by conspiracy theories that are packaged and sold to groupies and fake religious fanatics who lack independently functioning brains. You know...morons.

Is that the same cult that watched glassy-eyed as a man out of nowhere had built for himself a quasi-Greek temple meant for a Greek god to give his election night speech from? Yeah, that cult.

Oil prices, in case you're wondering (I trade commodities for a living and you don't) are set by a combination of OPEC restricting or easing supply, traders, futures markets that speculate on supply and demand and allocation, hedging by airlines and shipping companies and such. So much for your knowledge about oil pricing.

Considering you appearance, so far you have proved to readers what you don't know, not what you do know; and using your words from above: EVERYONE KNOWS THAT.

Conspiracy theories appear on both the far left and far right, the extremes - two side of the same coin.

It is the far left of the Occupied Movement that disseminated much of the banksters and FED conspiracies, Zionist conspiracies, 9-11 Truffers and such, as they attacked Wall Street and rioted in many communities.

Those are probably, though I cannot confirm. your readers. And fans.

They certainly are not mine.

President Obama also had nothing to do with the XL Keystone pipeline. Oh wait it wasn't political either. Canada took the consequence and realizes that the US can no longer be our primary trading partner. We have turned our eyes towards Europe and China.

While there should be development of all of the above, oil, coal, natural gas are still with us for a while before we make a transition to so called sustainable energy. Even renewable energy like bio-fuels are cutting the food supply, for what?

Germany has been at the forefront with sustainable energy, all it has done is raise prices for the average family and industry. They are now having a rethink.

Talk is cheap and there has been a lot since the 2008 election campaign. Like the old ad used to say, show me the beef. So far it has not been forthcoming.

The fact are $16 Trillion in debt, 8% plus unemployed, premiums for health care did not go down, but instead are going up. Hospitals are facing fines if they readmit a patient within 30 days. Yes America is better off today - only in your mind.

What all the pollution supporters and T-bagger cult members FAIL to realize is that ALL of the filthy energy sources are finite! They WILL run out and are NOT replaceable.

So what is the plan? Wait until every last drop of oil has been sucked out of the planet - then wake up one day and say....Gee we should have thought about that.

Like is said - morons.

Yep that's the answer when someone disagrees with you call them morons. Good policy. Yet you have no problem twisting the truth to the point where it sounds like MSNBC talking points. That takes a lot of thought.

Yup, when they run low on talking points they throw eggs, pies.

Look Karl, it should be apparent to you that a number of people who make stupid-sounding comments backed by nothing but opinion (otherwise called hot air) are not stupid.

They just have a problem with thinking
