’s 4-year-old daughter, Vivienne, will be making her movie debut soon, as Walt Disney Studios has announced casting her as the child Princess Aurora in “Maleficent,” a spin on the classic fairytale of Sleeping Beauty.
While there’s no word on how much screen time will be given to Jolie’s daughter or whether Vivienne’s twin brother, Knox, will also appear in the movie, Disney confirmed today via a written statement, “Angelina Jolie's daughter Vivienne will play a minor role as the child version of Princess Aurora opposite her mother in 'Maleficent' which hits theatres March 2014," according to a report by MTV. "The live-action film explores the origins of Disney's most iconic villain, Maleficent, and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney's animated classic 'Sleeping Beauty.'"
Vivienne is likely to appear in the growing-up scenes of Princess Aurora with her fairy guardians, while the role of the teenage princess will be played by, 14.
The upcoming Disney project began filming this June in London, and is slated to hit the theaters in March 2014. So far, all that has been released to the media is a picture of Angelina Jolie donning the Maleficent costume. Nonetheless, Jolie told MTV in July that she had been looking forward to playing this role for a long time.
"I would love to. It's all new and being discussed, but I loved her when I was a little girl, she was my favorite. ... And Tim [Burton]... the chance to work with him would just be extraordinary," Jolie said.
Jolie believes that while the actual story focuses more on Princess Aurora, Maleficent’s character is something that has not been explored so far. Therefore, doing something original on it will definitely pay off.
Vivienne is following her mother’s footsteps, breaking into showbiz at a very young age. Jolie’s first film was “Lookin’ to Get Out” in 1982 at the age of 6. The movie was directed by and co-starred her father, Jon Voight.
Vivienne isn’t the first child of Angelina Jolie andto star in a film. In 2008, Shiloh played a brief role in Pitt’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” Pitt and Jolie are also parents to Maddox, 11, Pax, 8 and Zahara, 7.
