12 picnickers drown at Karachi beach, 6 die

 At least six picnickers died Tuesday after drowning in Arabian Sea off Karachi beach, while rescue teams were able to save four of them, Media reports said. Two more are still missing, witnesses and the relatives on the spot said. The deceased have been identified as Junaid, Tariq, Farhan, Moeed, Khalid and Mohammad Shafi. Karachi beach is a top picnic point of the city where a large number of people visit on holidays. Meanwhile, Commissioner Karachi has requested Home Ministry to impose a ban on swimming. He also said that presence of life guards at the beach would be ensured to avert tragic incidents.
