DRC: No vaccines against polio, whooping cough and tuberculosis in Ituri since two months

For more than two months, the district of Ituri lack of vaccines against polio, diphtheria, whooping-cough, tuberculosis, hepatitis and tetanus vaccine. According to health authorities of the Eastern Province, the stock of vaccines for the Ituri is in Kisangani, capital of the province, lack of transportation, announces today Radio Okapi, the UN radio in DRC.

According to the medical director of the main hospital in Bunia city, since July 2012 pregnant women do not receive tetanus vaccine. He said wait a supply of vaccines for several weeks. Hospitals Aru experiencing the same problem.

Nearly one hundred ten thousand five hundred (110,500) of children less than eleven months have not been vaccinated after birth in Bunia and Djungu.
