Filmmaker Tony Scott, director of films like "Top Gun" and "Crimson Tide," died on Sunday after jumping off a bridge in Los Angeles, had an inoperable brain tumor, said on Monday the ABC television network, citing a source close to the film director.
Scott, 68, was found dead in the waters of the canals of the harbor area of Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. According to the newspaper "Los Angeles Times," several people saw a man parking his vehicle in the Vincent Thomas Bridge, which crosses the harbor area in the Long Beach area, just hours before the incident. The man had scaled the security fence three meters high and then jumped from the structure.
The body was located by underwater teams tracking the harbor police, local media reported. Authorities are investigating the case as an apparent suicide. The director of "Spy Game" left a note whose contents were not disclosed.
Born July 21, 1944, Scott built his career as a director of television commercials before joining in theaters with "Top Gun" (1986) and start a successful career oriented genre "thriller".
Throughout his career he worked five times with actor Denzel Washington. His last film as director, "Uncontrollable" (2010), was also his last collaboration with Washington with whom he made a year before the remake "The Taking of Pelham 123" as well as "Deja Vu," "Man on Fire" and " Crimson Tide "in 2006, 2004 and 1995, respectively.
Another of his best known films are "Beverly Hills Cop II" (1987), "Revenge - The Revenge" (1990), "Days of Thunder" (1990), "Love at Point Blank" (1993), "Game Spies "(2001) and" Domino - The Bounty Hunter "(2005).
As a producer, along with his brother Ridley Scott, participated in projects such as the recent "Prometheus" as well as television shows like "Numb3rs" and "The Good Wife."
Shortly after his death was confirmed, many Hollywood artists have used Twitter to convey their condolences for the loss of Scott.
"No more films from Tony Scott. A tragic day," said director Ron Howard; "bad news about Tony Scott. Rest in peace," said the actor Elijah Wood.
Tony Scott lived in Beverly Hills, was married to actress Donna Scott and had twin sons.

I wonder was he in pain? Did the tumor cause him to short circuit and have some sort of hallucinogenic episode that he could fly?
Why, being such a brilliant film maker, surrounded with people that love him would he do that.
I'll never understand things like that.
Truthfully, I wish I had had 1/10 of the life he had. I'm too much of a coward to jump off a bridge.
