Ladakh, the land of high passes, is a beautiful place in Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir surrounded by the Himalayan and Karakoram mountain ranges. The stupa also preserves remain of Lord Buddha protected by 14th Dalai Lama own. Large numbers of tourists visit this place due to its religious importance as well as architectural beauty. Being located on the top of the hill the stupa also offers scenic views of surroundings.

Some ancient monasteries are dotted in Leh district also worth visit. Hemis is the most sacred and largest Ladakh monastery. It is located in Hemis town about 45 km away from Leh. It is believed that the monastery has been existed before 11th century. It was restored in the year of 1672 by ruler of Ladakh Kingdom, Sengge Namgyal. The monastery houses many vital stuffs related to Buddhism religion and culture including a huge copper guilt statue of Lord Buddha. Hemis Festival is the most popular annual Buddhist cultural event celebrated inside the monastery complex that receives thousands of devotees.

Alchi Gompa, Sankar Gompa, Spituk, Phyang Monastery, Jama Masjid, Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery and Likir Gompa are the few other important heritage sites that you can visit in Ladakh. With these wonderful historical and religious places tourists can also take pleasure of several adventure sports like trekking, mountain biking, river rafting, safaris, etc on their Ladakh tours that will make their trips full of excitement.
