The pair of ingenious thieves dreamt up a novel method of robbing a club in Sydney without any violence and managed to walk away coolly with the week’s takings of several thousand dollars.
The manager of the club, a woman, realized the truth when it was too late.
This has been reported in dailytelegraph.com.au of 17th of August 2012.
The robbers entered the bank identifying themselves as detectives on the trail of a gang of crooks – they wanted the manager to show them the CCTV room because they wanted to study the CCTV footage to get clues!!
The woman never doubted their intentions and allowed them access.
Once inside, the duo removed the computer hard drive with CCTV footage stored on it.
They then suggested that she collect the weeks takings and they would escort her to the bank for safety.
They had two cars with them and while she got into one with one of the men, the other man took the other car.
And – when they had travelled some distance, her companion picked up the bag containing the money, entered the second car and vanished before the poor woman realized that she and her club had been conned.
