"Arkajyoti Samanta writes poems with a passion. It has been a journey for him, one of conviction and contentment. Wheel of time rolled on; he is aware of it; yet his mind and heart would never admit that a new day would shorten the life. Isn’t life beyond mere breathing? Life cannot be an obsession with mere forms; it has a meaning even for the formless. Love is about harmony in living together. Partners can have perfect harmony even in silence pervading five days a week if both are aware that each one is having worthwhile pursuit. Life cannot be about turbulence; it is about soothing flow of a narrow stream. It is about seeing not the tree tops; but the root of the tree, in the land of the Buddha. Life assumes new meaning, connects eloquently to the roots even in the small piece of stone in the corner of the kitchen that has witnessed the joys and tears of the family and has said what faith is. Life is about knowledge; about perfection; the expertise shown by a seasoned boatman with eyes fixed on the oars; he alone knows the depth of the water; not one who is casually inquisitive. Life is an urge to expand; it feels hurt if encaged. Life acquires meaning with faith and surrender. Collection of the fifty poems in the Book IN SEARCH OF THE ASCETIC MALE is a unique one that sets a perfect song of life."

An Inner Journey ||The poetic journey of Arkajyoti Samanta may be summed up in his own words: "Each time I need an answer I run to this narrow river, I watch the flow, listen the murmur . . . I need this gentle flow, a gentle touch! This flow is life -— No need for a full tide! . . .". The metaphor of the river recurs in his poems. A keen observer of life in its myriad bends, he has also a glimpse of the "other side of the river". The journey, however, is basically inner. "To know me, I need a travel — let me set out it inside." In his poetry, there is a discernible affirmation of humanism and other positive values. A significant aspect of his poetic output is his spiritual belief. I wish more of creative soaring for Arkajyoti in course of time.
