Lies and confusion: Politics at work trying to destroy Obama’s shot at second term

Painting President Obama as a president who has spent more money than any other president in history serves only one purpose- winning the office of the president of the United States. Lies are being tossed around like hot potatoes, and voters are left trying to decipher truth from fiction. The problem with lies being repeated over and over again is that if you hear something often enough, you begin to believe it is true. Politicians know this, and that is why the ads are so abundant.

As political ads are taking over the television, internet and radio waves, consumers are being blasted by so much information that nothing makes sense any more. Several issues have come to light that have been outright lies and attempts to destroy the chances of Obama winning a second term as president. The biggest lie and contortion of the truth is about the money he has spent while in office.

The confusion begins during his first year as President. The budget for 2009 was actually approved by President Bush. Four months before Obama was elected, Congress passed the budget for 2009 and Bush signed it. The first year any president is in office leaves them saddled with a budget that was signed by their predecessor. Sometimes this can be a good thing and sometimes it can be a bad thing. In the case of Obama it has been a disastrous issue that has plagued his presidency and clouded the minds of voters.

As Democrats try to dispel the lies and Republicans shout them from rooftops, voters are left scratching their heads in confusion. It is exceptionally important for voters to understand how this is impacted by the political ads bombarding their every waking moment. It is more important for voters to realize who actually signed the budget and which side of the aisle is responsible for the expenditures that have created outrage in the minds of Americans.

Here are some facts to help voters understand this issue:

2009 was the last year that George W. Bush approved a budget. During this year, federal spending rose by 17.9%. Click here to review this data from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) .

Spending fell 1.8% during 2010, the first year Obama approved the budget.

Spending is scheduled to fall by 1.3% in 2013, which is the last year of Obama’s first term.

Spending is on track to rise 0.4% during Obama’s first term in office.

As we head into the elections in November, each voter has an obligation to understand the facts. Taking this step can often be confusing and frustrating. The political attack ads don’t help this process. Voters simply need to take a step back, find viable resources and seek understanding about issues that can be very confusing in many ways. Seek the truth, ignore the political ads and talk to people about the issues instead of being spoonfed lies and distortions of reality.

Why is it always necessary to say "typical"?? I don't get that.

Can you believe it's only August with the political ads? We won't know whether we're coming or going my late October.

I have started muted the television on commercials. It is so frustrating!

Wasn't it the Demo's who said 0-Bama would have a war chest of $1B for his re-election?

Despite the ads from either side, voters are well aware of the stagnant ecomony that we have endured during his presidentcy. Wheather or not it is his fault, he volunteered for the position. In doing so, he accepted everything that came with it...

OBAMACARE vs. ROMNEYCARE

Advantages and Disadvantages and How Can Unfunded Mandates be Funded?

While the controversy about Paul Ryan's Ayn Rand sentiments are made much of in the media intent on supporting one side of the political divide at the expense of The American People, what counts is what Rand has actually advised, and these are filtered through AGB100's clear lenses:

Ayn Rand asked: What is Important?

Her Answer: REALITY.

Meaning, what is not real - for example false, misleading and politically-agenda-driven information - is NOT real and therefore unimportant.

AGB100 often says:

Everything is so....Unless it isn't.

and...

There's NOTHING common about COMMON SENSE.

Former PM of the U.K. Winston Churchill said:

It's not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what's required.

...and...

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

Ergo, we look at the RESULTS next and facts behind ObamaCare and RomneyCare - the history of US policy regarding MEDICARE and SOCIAL SECURITY - both of which are going broke and both of which are unfunded (meaning there is no funding upcoming for them.) Meaning, the plans supported by Obama and the Democrats - BOTH of which need to be reformed according to Paul Ryan's Plan BECAUSE -- if they are not reformed you will enjoy neither! And why that is so is below.

AGB100 wrote:

"The main REASON Medicare has a shortfall is that Obama took $700+ billion FROM Medicare to fund Obamacare. The fact is, no matter what, no one over 55 with get a cut in services. If Medicare is not reformed, there will be no Medicare for people UNDER 55 - no matter what."

"Most of the world's advanced nations have privatized, even Russia where the workers CHOSE to privatize. Australia, the UK and many other western nations have long ago privatized by choice of the people of those nations.

Actuarial studies prove that part public and part private pension plans (the best we can hope for in the US at this time) produce easily TWICE the net returns that purely publicly-funded plans have produced. In other words, you'd be receiving twice the money you are receiving today.

Moreover, you have NO security for either medical or social security. Forget the word SECURITY.

The reason is that YOU DON'T OWN THE MONEY IN THE MEDICAL OR SOCIAL SECURITY TRUST FUNDS.

The Democrats not only rid the "TRUST" in the fund's provisions and its funding, they had taken the money out....and placed it into GENERAL REVENUE.

And then they TAXED your social security payouts.

THAT, is the reason why BOTH Democratic pet government programs are broke. They had put the pets up for adoption and had abandoned them while paying lip service to them!

The Democrats meanwhile called the Republicans racists for opposing their programs.

IT'S WHAT YOU KNOW - NOW DEAL WITH IT!

In two rulings by the high courts, one Helvering and Nestor, it was deemed that you do not OWN the money you had placed into THE Social Security "TRUST" fund, but the GOVERNMENT does. In short, Social Security went from a trust savings and insurance account that was intended to protect you, to a payout from general funds which BY LAW government is not obligated to pay out.

Those laws were passed by Democrats and OPPOSED by Republicans.

And then, as stated earlier, to finalize the insult upon injury and rub salt into the festering wound they had ALONE created, the Democrats TAXED your social security payments!

Thank you.

And friends, to sum it up, Romney's Tax Returns have nothing to do with it UNTIL Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi decide to release their last three year's returns for the tens of millions they had made through insider trading.

Besides, Romney HAS released his last two years, including the fact known nationwide: The Romneys have given tens of millions to charitable causes, Romney has given away his father's entire fortune to charitable causes, and Romeny has created jobs across the nation at companies you frequent every day.

Meanwhile, Nevada and California, Harry Reid's and Nancy Pelosi's states, are broke, have the highest foreclosures in the nation and the highest unemployment in the nation. And some of the highest crime in the nation.

And Harry and Nancy tell us we should be more concerned about how Romney spends his money than how Obama spends yours?

THERE IS NOTHING COMMON ABOUT COMMON SENSE.

IT'S WHAT YOU KNOW - NOW DEAL WITH IT!

Excellent report, Amee, as usual.

With each passing day, the lies get bigger and bigger...and NOT "on both sides" as the Republicans endlessly claim. That's the "false equivalence" that they love to try to use to diminish their own obvious falsehoods, hypocrisy, and downright immorality.

Thanks.

Herb, If you think these lies constitute an excellent report, then you are part of the problem and not part of the solution. I heard Nancy Pelosi said the aliens from Mars are invading America. They must be looking for you.

The human beings desire to delude himself never amazes me. Usually, the same human beings NEVER do their homework to discover the facts, but rather, Dan, rely on the mythmakers of HuffPo, CNN, MSNBC and others like kind to satisfy their unending needs to explain the world as it isn't, rather than as it is.

Unfortunately it's not a kind world out there, it really is a jungle where the fit survive and the rest become Democrats with their hands out, or other similar-minded people who look for others to blame for their lives - which are the SUM TOTAL of their life's choices made daily.

Keep at it Herb...life will get better just if you dream it!

HOPE 4 CHANGE, any day now.

BTW, are YOU better off than you were seven years ago when the unemployment was 5.5%, just before the Democrats took over Congress and, this may come as a surprise to you - congress holds the purse strings and are responsible for the economy?

Sure you are better off...and so is America with almost 10% unemployment and another 6 trillion dollar deficit!
