Miraculous rescue of a 70-year old hiker trapped in an Alpine crevice for 6-days

It was a miraculous rescue for the 70-year old hiker in the Austrian Alps who had been trapped in the crevice of a glacier near the Laengentaler Weisskogel peak of Western Austria.

The person was suffering from hypothermia and exhaustion when he was shifted by a helicopter for treatment to a hospital in Innsbruck.

This has been reported in news.sky.com of dated 14th of August 2012.

It seems he had let on his hiking tour six days earlier and had fallen into the crevice. Other hikers came to his rescue on hearing his cries for help.

When located, he had only water with him but no food – under the circumstances, his survival was nothing short of a miracle.
