It’s the grand finale on season two of “The Glee Project”. By the end of the night either Ali, Aylin, or Blake will be crowned the winner. Last season the show ended with four finalists and two winners with the remaining two contenders getting two episodes on “Glee”; however, over the past few weeks casting director Robert Ulrich has been insisting that creator and writer Ryan Murphy will choose only one winner. Will there be only one?
This weeks theme is Glee-ability and the homework assignment was “You Can’t Stop the Beat” from the musical “Hairspray”. Robert had a little surprise for the singers saying that they have needed a little help in the form of backup singers; he brought in the contenders from season two who had been eliminated.
The guest mentor and judge for this week was Chris Colfer who play Kurt Hummel on “Glee”. Chris thought that all of the contenders were really good and decided to name all three of them the winner. Each contender got some mentoring time with Chris.
The group video for the week was “Tonight, Tonight” with the theme of a high school prom. Each contender had a specific character to play…
Aylin was the girl who snuck out of the house to go to the prom
Blake was the popular but humble prom king
Ali was the flirty mean girl
Video director Erik White called in a special guest to help with the video shoot; one of last season’s winners Damian McGinty told the contenders that they didn’t have anything to lose, only something to gain.
With only three contenders remaining, all three of them would sing for last chance performances; but this week they got to choose their own songs. Just before they prepared for the performance vocal coach Nikki Anders revealed that the music from “Glee” has topped the 40 million download mark. The audience this week was more than just Ryan, Robert, Nikki, and Zach; some of the “Glee” cast and crew along with the eliminated contenders were in the audience.
Aylin performed “Rolling in the Deep”
Ali performed “Popular” from the musical “Wicked”
Blake performed “I’ll Be” and after his performance recited a poem that he had composed for Ryan expressing why he is different from anyone else. The poem had Nikki and Robert in tears. After all of the performances the cast and writers were split on who should be crowned the winner. Ryan said that he was split and torn over who should win, they all did a wonderful job.
This season Ryan chose only one winner. And the winner is…
