At least 30 militants whilefive security troops of Pakistan army were reportedly killed and 22 troops injured in the restive tribal area of Orakzai Agency in the North West of Pakistan, said officials here on Tuesday.
Reports said that in the on going war on terrorism, Pakistani security troops advanced in the most troublesome area of Maoon Zai of Orkzai agency where in a clash with the extremists 2 troops were killed and 22 injured while 25 militants were killed and 14 other got wounded.
“16 troops along with a high rank military official were shifted to Peshawar in critical conditions” said the official of the local administration on the condition of anonymity.
He added that eight militants were taken into custody in injured conditions.
“the clash happened at a place named Dalanai, some 78 kilometers north of Ghaljoo, the headquarters of Orakzai agency, where heavy artillery was used from both the sides” said the official adding that Pak army retaliated strongly and killed 25 militants including their top rank commnader Abu Salman and Sher Shah.
The official confirmed that 16 troops were in critical conditions and were shifted to Peshawar through helicopter.
It was also known that the Pakistani forces occupied the militants’ occupied area and installed Pakistani Flag over there after a fierce fighting.
In reports later on issued to media said that three troops scumbed to their injuries in Peshwar.
Dalanai is a strategically the most important area of Orakzai Agency and is located at a height of about 3000 feet.
“Security forces can keep a watch over the movements of the militants the top of Dalanai” said the political administration of Orakzai agency adding that about 92 % of the area was under the control of Pak army.
It is to be mentioned here that 14 villages are said to be still in the occupation of the militants in the restive tribal area of Orakzai Agency in the North West of Pakistan.(ihsan_dawar@yahoo.com)
