Ministry of Education, Punjab, has decided to take action against heads and teachers of those government schools whose pass-percentage in matriculation examination has been below 20 percent. Sources said all the head masters and head mistresses of the schools with 20 percent pass-percentage would be removed from their posts. Heads of those schools with ten percent successful students will be sacked and they will never be appointed on any administrative post in future. The ministry of education has also directed the Executive District Officers of all the districts of Punjab to present report about the matter. On the other hand, SES Teachers’ Association has denounced the decision of ministry of education and has requested the government to revert the decision. Office bearers of the teachers’ association hold the stance that the government should provide requisite facilities to all the schools; only then it will get the right to anticipate good performance from the public schools.
