There’s a difference between being comedic and being offensive, people.
Comedian Jeffrey Ross, best known for being a part of the Comedy Central Roasts, decided to poke fun at the Aurora tragedy over the weekend during the roast of comedienne Roseanne Barr.
As if dressing up as disgraced Penn State coach wasn’t bad enough (seen above), he took the stage and caught the eye of , who was also part of the ceremony.
“Seth, congratulations. This is actually a great night for you … you haven’t gotten this much attention since you shot all those people in Aurora. … I’m kidding. You are not like James Holmes. At least he did something in a movie theater that people remember!”
Seth’s hair was dyed red; Jeff was comparing him to alleged shooter, James Holmes. This was the second time in weeks where a comedian took the deaths of 12 and injuries of many to comedic task: did the same thing during a stand-up set and later apologized.
Following the taping, producers assured everyone that the joke would be cut from the broadcast, set to air August 12th.
Ross realized his huge blunder, but added on, “That’s what roasts are about.”
No, that’s what unfunny jokes are about.
