Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Pirates management team activated from the 15 day disabled list right handed pitcher Juan Cruz before Sunday's game.
To make room for Cruz to be on the Pittsburgh Pirates roster the Pirates assigned right handed pitcher Jared Hughes to their AAA minor league team in Indianapolis Indiana.
Cruz was on the 15 day disabled list due to inflamation on his right pitching shoulder.
Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said the demotion of Hughes was due to Cruz getting off the disabled list and not Hughes recent pitching woes which he gave up six runs in six innings pitched in a four game span recently.
Hurdle said Hughes stay in Indinapolis will be for a short while and he should back on the Pirates roster soon.
